The Matra brand

Matra’s history began in 1945 in the arms industry, which is why the brand stands for Mechanical – Aviation – Traction. The Matra-Automobile saga began in 1964, with the creation of Matra Sport and the development and production of mass-produced vehicles. At the time, the brand was renowned for its sporting achievements: 3 consecutive victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, double Formula 1 Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Champion with Jackie Stewart and the Matra Ford MS80, three-time European F2 champion with Jacky Ickx. Building on its technological achievements and significant contribution to the automotive industry and its history, Matra has been implementing an ambitious strategy of technological innovation in the light electric vehicle sector since 2004.
